I've used both, and the Roto-Zip gets the vote for one winning Vanagon specific task, namely cutting the hole in the pop-top for a skylight (my 82 didn't have one). Worked very well for that.

The Roto-Zip was the neighbour's, he bought it to see if it would help in the renovation of the old farmhouse he lives in. It did, did a good job of cutting plaster and lath etc.

But the Dremel might win overall as its more nimble and can be used for a myriad of small grinding/cutting/polishing tasks. But really, spending some money on decent files and hacksaw blades would be more cost effective for 95% of the time.
