hey kids, 1971 and later got the front disc and the accompanying 5 X 112 mm as my previously posted response to this thread, pre-71 vans had 5 X 205 mm unless it has been altered. Company's such as Wolfgang International in Redding, California do offer kits to convert early vans to the later style disc brakes and bolt pattern. So there is always the possibility that an older van may have alter bolt pattern. However, it is not likely as a smart person wrecking out an old van should be able to recognize the value of those parts. There are also wide-5 (5 X 205 mm) front discs available for these early vans. So simply saying "look for disc brakes" is not a catch all either. likelihood of finding one of these things in a wrecking yard is same as the previous paragraph. The easiest way I can tell you to increase your chances of getting the right wheels from a donor VW van is by estimating size. The wide-5 is about as wide as a dinner plate. whereas, the 5 X 112 mm pattern is about the diameter of your speedometer.
