Hi All, I recently did some "preventive maintenance" on my '84 Westy 1.9 digijet. 81k miles. I replaced the temp II sensor, spark plug wires and O2 sensor, out of precaution because the old ones are probably 18 years old. Ever since, I have had a problem with a rough transition from idle. I have cleaned everything, adjusted the idle screws and mixture screws multiple times, all to no avail. The idle is good, about 900 rpm, vacuum about 16 inches and steady. The vehicle drives great, however.... If I idle for more than a couple of seconds, when I try to take off, then there is hesitation as if the mixture goes lean. I get the impression the O2 sensor is making an adjustment somehow, that I dont like. If I disconnect the O2 sensor everything is perfect !!! Perhaps the old O2 sensor wasnt working and I was running on defaults like I am with it disconnected. Can someone point me in the right direction as to what to do or look for? Maybe haven't got the air bleed on the AFM right? Maybe a small exhaust leak I cant find? Sure would like to get to the bottom of this. My wife would like it too !!
cheers, Steve Cotsford |
