I would replace the covers and bails together. The covers are only $8 each and the bails are $2.95 each. They just go bad. Some times you are actually leaking out of the rusty place on the valve cover and not the gasket (pin hole leaks). I have these in stock if you need them quickly. Hey vanagonites, Good to be back on the list again, I signed out before last summer when I went travelling around. Great summer of cycling and paddling in my trusty westy base campmobile. My van held up great through many miles this summer. On to my question. I had leaks coming from the valve covers, so I pulled them and replaced the gaskets, but I still have leaks. What next? Is it common for the bails or covers to need replacing? To the bails get "less tight" over time? Do the covers warp? Mine have surface rust, but they don't look too bad. Any ideas? Greg. |
