You are going to keep finding metal in there. Don't worry about it. When
your motor is broken you'll know it. Oil pressure will drop. Or you'll
start loosing compression on one (or more) cylinders. Or something large
will fall off or go through the case.

Until then, just drive it, change the oil, and be happy. AVP, by the
way, largely sucks. There are a number of vendors on list who sell good
long-blocks. Jake Raby of aircooledtechnologies.com does some higher-end
stuff, if coin is no object.

Thanks all who responded to my query about metal slivers. I have learned
more about bearings and stuff that lurk in the engine. I will run the
van and keep running cleaner through it and checking the oil. If anyone
is interested I will keep the list posted on what I find.

If it gets worse then it will be time to plan on a new engine. Other
than AVP, does anyone know of some other good longblock vendors?
