Sounds to me like the pressure tank cap in not releasing pressure, resulting in the system overpressurized, which is what was popping the hoses, and has created a head leak into the cylinder/s. Test the pressure tank cap for proper release pressure. Then replace it if required and then test for leakdown of each cylinder at top dead center and watch for bubbles coming out of the pressure tank with the cap off.
