I have seen wild turkeys in British Columbia.  We were on Hwy 3 near Trail or Castelgar (in our '85 Westfalia) when we saw a flock near the edge of the road.  I have also seen "wild" turkeys near Grenfel in Saskatchewan (I think these were introduced by a local farmer).  As you mentioned I have also seen lots of turkeys on the T.V. news.
