Eric: I use an old Yakima on the hatch for my bikes. Would hold anything you mention. I put it there so I can raise the top and also not obstruck top clearance while driving under things. There are some pics at the link below of the application.

Put the Thule on a few months back and it works great. Had to use the artificial gutters, but I can pop top with surfboard still up. Took ~2 hours to install

Hi all- Anybody have any experience using a widely available line of racks, like Thule or Yakima on their Westfalia? Either on the back or top so you can still pop the camper?

I want to bring skis and snowboards and sleep a few of my friends and I in the van, so we'll need to pop the top and we'll need the space in the van. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to get it installed before next weekend.

Thanks!
