Subject: coolant expansion tank
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

ok so about a year ago the transmission cooler ruptured, mixing transmission fluid into the coolant system. Caught it just as it happened, had the cooler fixed, system was flushed... About a month ago I decided to drain the cooling system and put in the orange Havoline. I needed to scrub out the expansion tank a bit since over the past year crud had accumulated there and sort of adhered to the walls of the tank. I had trouble getting one of the screws out that hold the tank in place (just below rear license plate). Had to grind it off and was unable to get the remaining stud part of the screw out of the brass female end that it screws into. Any suggestions?? I guess I could hit my local VW junkyard and see if they have any laying around.
