Subject:      need stereo-KISS

Hey stereo folks. Any help here would be appreciated. Keep It Simple Stan.

I am finally getting the mechanical TDI/5 speed Major Project put back
together (new cooling system, sound and noise insulation, new fabric on all
the interior panels, new rubber/window scrubber felt stuff, basically total
overkill) and want a basic stereo system. I would even be happy with an old
Jetta radio/cassette deck I have laying around should it fit (by the way,
how do I tell what wire goes where?--yes I know the code). Just need to hear
the news, play a tape now and then(or CD if I go get a new deck). Don't need
the van to rumble and vibrate--that's what the diesel is for.

So, I have 2 holes in each front door, small ones near the top, big oval
ones near the bottom, and small ones in the rear storage/shelf unit above
the rear seat.

Can I easily hook up 6 speakers to fill all those holes? Do I need a power
amp to do this? If not, where should I locate my 4 speakers. I have read the
recent posts on buying decent speakers, and am convinced of getting such,
but really have no clue how to proceed here, don't want to be a stereo
expert, etc. Just want something that plays and want the holes filled in.
Now seems a good time to worry about where to run wires.
