i'll participate since this is a much nicer and informative friday thread than another weekly "tire" thread.. here is a partial list from memory for what i've done to my 84 sunroof wolfy.. (most of these mods will pertain to all yr vanagons, but some are specific to the 80-85 models)

-SA quad grille w/ HellaH4 headlights w/ 2 pos. factory fog switch in cluster

-Projektzwo lower foglites/bezels -smoked SA turn sigs. (thanks Bill Kasper!) -full fiberglass bodykit/bumpers/rocker trim etc from a '90 carat -eurovan rear view windshield mount mirror (so i can see out the back window instead of looking at the a/c ducting) -overhead front a/c (actually, this was a dealer installed system when the van was new, since sunroof vans didnt normally have a/c) - cut out the spring steel rod holding the stock spare tire and replaced rod thru hinges w/ bolts/nuts so i can put a 15" spare tire in the carrier -SA "15 alloys w/ 215-75-15 tires (thanks for the trade, ken wilford!) -power mirrors, painted body color (not hooked up, and never will be) -SA"Volksiebus" decals (thanks james Cohen!) -boston accoustics speakers in front doorpanels -flimsy POS OEM dash cupholder from early vanagon (good for holding change, tho!) -carbon fiber shift knob (makes me think im in a racecar) -the amazing, highly sought after "silver socket" from a vanagon westy installed on the dash. (actually, ive never even used it, it just is a conversation piece) - '82 audi 4000 gauge pod w/ 2 gauges installed in the heater diffuser cover panel forward of the shifter (looks stock!) - leather merkur Xr4Ti headrests (slide right into vanagon headrest sockets , minimal mod. they adjust fwd and back (unlike stock vanagon headrests) and, up and down) - right side parcel tray from '80 vanagon transporter (these are found on models w/o glove boxes) modified to fit the drivers side - under the dash and around the strg column cover.. looks stock.. a great mod for 80-85 vanagon owners and those who like to play with the dremel :<) -the usual door pocket on the front pass door upgrade, but unlike most people, i moved it back so it'd clear the glovebox BEFORE i drilled holes :<) -added the usual grab handle to the drivers A pillar and didnt drill thru the wires either :<) -those cheezy rubber floormates that arent cut quite right that say "vanagon" in way too big 80's style font on them, but hey, theyre better than nothing -rubber cover for e-brake handle from 'rabbit/cabriolet (slips right on, no freezing your hand in the morning anymore when you let the brake off) -drivers dome light mounted over the pass door (theres a space for it already there) -20" wiper blade upgrade -swival seat base welded to front pass seat from a westy -cut out metal on top of seat pedestal about 3" under front pass front swival seat base so you can actually store stuff underneath there (great atlas storage area) -CB radio mounted on heater diffuset cover -fiamma 'freeway blaster" horn to replace anemic sounding vw horn -SA mudflaps (thanks Ron Salmon!) installed w/ stainless steel screws (not those cheezy clips they come with) - Yakima roofracks w/ highrise system - VWOA vanagon factory roof rack (looks like the bus one, but this is actually made for the vanagon by VW) -rear hatch VW emblem (actually a hatch lock cover emblem from a '98-2000 New Beetle :<) -reciever hitch (thanks go-westy!) beefed up w/ extra 2" stock welded on -3rd brake light mounted in reciever -complete grey velour interior from '90 vanagon carat w/ jumpseats, sidepanels w/ cupholders and flip out table, and rear sofabed. upgraded all doorpanels to grey velour also. (i have another one of these interiors for sale if anyones interested) -rear shoulderbelts from '90-91 vanagon (the holes are already there under the headliner) -flourescent thinlite from carat -rear mattress from '87 wolfy withOUT a/c sidepillar cutouts (that was hard to find!) -rear hatch "jailbars" - actually was stock on the 84 wolfy's.. -full snap in curtain set, rear hatch screen, westy side windows - all stock on 84 wolfy also. -front windshield curtain from vanagon westy -smoked lexan mongo sized sunroof air deflector by Climair for the vanagon sunroof -front table, arm, and mount from vanagon westy and extra mount on passengers pedestal also -westy LP tank mounted under slider door to run camp stove or lp heater (still havent installed this yet) -voltage inverter w/ outlet -jumpseat storage trays -rubber truck bed mat traced to the same shape as the stock vanagon carpet, and installed in place of the carpet (no more dirty carpet!) -rear slider door handle from 80-84 westy installed inside at rear -flip out cupholders installed on the inner front passengers seat pedestal a-la carat/wolfy, and also on the auto tranny shifter cover -headlights relayed directly to battery for higher wattage -rear hatch strut support (thanks Karl Bloss!) -swival tab to cover slider door light switch (so interior lights dont stay on all the time when the slider door is open)

plus more stuff that i cant remember now.. feel free to use my ideas and ask me questions on how i did mods or see pics etc. chris
