The unit has been sold. Since the unit puts the evaporator three feet from the most distant location in the front cab it cools very good. This unit makes an invisible installation except for the compressor in the engine bay and that is the most attractive thing I see about it. The second most attractive thing about it is that your OEM heating and fresh air system remain intact and operate normally. I'm sure some engineering could be done to incorporate other evaporators but the units were installed to recover that overhead space or eliminate the hang down on Westy cabinets. I'm pretty simple minded but I've always thought that one could install a nice big unit under the back seat and blow it through that big 4"+ heater tube on Air Cooled Vans. UD Diesels cabs have a roof mount unit that looks like it would work well in the luggage carrier and it blasts right down on top of your head. I'd have installed it on my Westy but I just couldn't stand loosing the HP required to run one. In spite of the known flaws in the Vanagon Air Cooled heating and ventilation system, mine has always worked well.

The hoses will reach the engine bay but will need three feet of extension hose with your compressor pressure fittings. http://www.williamwareagency.com/forsale/stanvan/acsys1.jpg http://www.williamwareagency.com/forsale/stanvan/acsys2.jpg http://www.williamwareagency.com/forsale/stanvan/acsys3.jpg http://www.williamwareagency.com/forsale/stanvan/acsys4.jpg http://www.williamwareagency.com/forsale/stanvan/acsys5.jpg This unit will ship in two or three cartons from Dallas TX 75220, just guessing but 185 pounds for the two cartons. Asking price $450.00.+ Freight These units are rare and new kits are about $1200.00.

someone should snap this up, it can be tied into the rear a/c on a later westy and would be a much better solution to the problem w/ getting cold air up front... good deal chris
