I always thought that the 70's SAAB Sonetts had a clever lumbar pad. It was basically a semi arch shaped pad that could be raised or lowered on a cloth "track". worked quite well. now if your werent terrified half to death driving the fiberglass 2 seater--it was quite a comfortable ride. (as you can tell--I've dabbled in saab V4s) it was a nice fiberglass seat with lumbar pad
