As Dennis has pointed out, this type of problem is very likely OX sensor
related. I would suspect that someone has spliced a generic replacement
into the old OX wiring harness. If so, the splice may be getting wet and
messing up the reading that is seen by the ECU. Dry the spliced area
with a blow dryer. Then seal it up more completely such as by encasing
the entire area in a glob of silicone RTV.
