I'm driving all the way to Oaxaca with my middle-aged uncle and my old dog.
Ideal stops for us are budget-medium range hotels ($60usd max)with parking
that will allow dogs, but we can also camp. I'm currently seeking info. on
Morelia, Patzcuaro, Hidalgo and Tuxpan in Michoacan, AND Chihuahua,
Chihuahua. CAVEAT: I already have or have checked the following resources:
mexico connect, mexico online, lonely planet, moon guide, guia roji, mexico
mike nelson, AAA book for mexico, and am about to buy the Mike & Terri
Church guide to camping in Mexico. I'd like to hear from folks who have
actually travelled to these places with their dogs. Thanks to everyone who
has responded so far, and i hope the above caveat saves time for some...I'm
trying to get as much info as I can via internet and books before i start
making phone calls..( I have lists of hotels for most areas but no idea if
they accept pets) but if you have stayed somewhere with your pooch and you
have a phone number, by all means pass it on...and YES, we will have an
airline-style kennel with us....and for any other dog-lovers out there who
are drooling and panting at the prospect of a list of hotels from Los
Angeles to Puerto Escondido that accept dogs, feel free to note my email
address and contact me in January, I'll be happy to share, and I will also
post my findings on this site and on Mexico connect.
