Subject: thanks - re: exhaust quality questions
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Thanks to everyone who took the time to pass on their opinions regarding S+S exhaust systems and alternatives for my 85 Westfalia. I do appreciate it.

I would definitely prefer a stock setup over the S+S. However it is a cost issue for me, not a performance 'upgrade.' Unfortunately because of the crappy Canadian dollar and shipping and duty costs I am pretty much limited to Canadian suppliers right now. My options seem to be S+S, Volkswagen or Stebro. While I trust the quality of VW and Stebro more than I do S+S my situation as a recent graduate just doesn't allow for it at this point in time. I splurged and got the van painted a couple of weeks ago which was long overdue. Two days later my van sounds like a semi trailer. What luck.

I still have the cat and a one year old Volkswagen muffler which came with a lifetime warranty (I don't think that's standard but the dealership that installed it put it in writing for me). So I think I will try and re-use the VW muffler which means I expect to have one S+S muffler and tailpipe for sale in the near future. I will have a mechanic i trust install the system and handle the warranty.

I guess I should think about a new O2 sensor rather than reusing the one i have now?

Thanks again Jeff
