I have the book "Jetze Helfe Ich Mir Selbst" (Now I can help my self) And it's chock full of instructions and pictures to convert or modify and Vanagon camper or otherwise. And it's chocked full of German.

If you don't know the language you can always learn and the pictures in this book are worth thousands of dollars. I got a CD -ROM language course and wouldn't you know not one of the words in the book are covered. What other language has a word like "Kunstoffabdeckungen" ?

Lots of pictures of the "aufstelldach" or pop-top and how to install one on a standard Vanagon. I've met people who have done the pop-top swap and they always say it was the hardest thing to do.

It looks hard, and it's not the kind of thing you want to rush. Get this book and watch an episode of "Monster Garage" and you'll be motivated.

On further examination, in a description down lower in the page, the title (translated from German, obviously) is shown as "VW T2/T3 Vanagon Camper Book." There's also one called "VW T4 EuroVan Build It Yourself Camper Book." They're at http://www.eurocampers.com/ if you want to see for yourself...

Still looking for anyone who has used the Vanagon instructions to put a poptop in.
