All vanagon GL's from '88-'91 have fiberglass bumpers. the '88-89 GL's have the black fiberglass bumpers front and rear as well as the fiberglass trim at the bottom of the front doors, and the '90-'91 GL's have the silver or body color painted fiberglass bumpers as well as the full bodykit including the fiberglass rocker moulding down the whole drivers and passengers side.

all the carats and wolfsburgs from '87 up have fiberglas bumpers too.

surefire way to tell is yours is a '90 GL is that all '90-'91 passenger GL's had the middle and rear shoulderbelts, as well as the full fiberglass rocker moulding all around the van. the GL's also have grey velour interiors.

if your van is a '90-'91 NON-GL it will have grey tweed seats w/ no armrests and little checks of red and blue woven in with the grey tweed. it will also have black rubber floormats thruout, and no carpet, no tach, no padded dash, and will have a analog clock. also it will have black painted steel bumpers, rear facing jumpseats, and a weekender sofabed, all in the grey tweed. no flip out side table.
