That's what I do, too.  I bought a cheap 'milkhouse' electric heater at
Wal Mart.  It was cheap, and it's steel, so I can throw it in the bin
under the back seat for travel without fear of the other stuff I have
under there breaking it.  Has a built-in thermostat, and two wattage
levels.  I don't camp in the winter, but in the spring and fall it can
still drop into the 30s or 40s at night in parts of Michigan.
