Hi all and a big thank you to everyone who responded with kind words
of encouragement and advice. Patrice, to answer your question
regarding the hesitation, here is what I experienced.
The van accellerated fine away from stop signs. At approx 35 to 40mph,
it started to display a delayed accelleration. Driving it, my
experience of it was simply one of wondering what was up with the auto
transmission...I would floor it to merge on the freeway and there
would be this slow 1..2..3.. count where it just continued along at
current speed, and then all of a sudden it would seem to wake up and
accellerate. I didn't hear anything miss in the engine, nor did it
stall, stutter, or lose power.
So, when I took it to the shop for the pre-sale checkup I asked them
to pay special attention to the auto tranny. However, when they ran
their full (I mean _full_, I told 'em do _everything_) diagnostic
exam, what _they_ found was no problem with the AT, but a "bad
hesitation off stop, need fuel injection diagnostic time to estimate
possible air flow meter" problem.
So there you have it. I don't really know to do anything other than
shrug. BTW, my shop is the Volks Cafe in Sta. Cruz, who have a pretty
darn good rep if I am not mistaken. My hope is that they will fix it
up for me lickety-split. (Hey, a girl can dream, can't she?) ;)
