Suggestion: Borrow someone's aircooled van. Drive it around for a couple weeks in the dead of winter.

Once you're done, you won't care about the disintegrated foam, the bad cables, or the crumbling plastic. You'll be so glad you have any heat at all, you won't care so much about which vents it happens to be coming out of. ;)
