A beautiful plane, just about transonic I think, no nasty vices,  lucky
blighters - that paint job sounds very RAF to me.
... and nice to know there's still 3 together somewhere.
... very noisy, yes, unless you've seen (and heard) an EE Lightning take off
and pull into a vertical climb immediately (initial climb rate > 55,000
ft/min) - known as 'a triumph of thrust over aerodynamics', which is a bit
of a snub to the designers as apparently they handle like a kitten, provided
you don't run out of fuel (<14 mins @ ground level on full reheat) but
fortunately they were supersonic on dry heat, even 45 years ago.
... unfortunately theres only one left that might ever get to fly again,
which is v. unlikely.
