I recently had the privilege of pulling the dash and replacing the complete heater / fresh air heater box assembly in a Waser Boxer. So fellows, just rave on about poor heat in an air cooled and try to buy the best heater core you can possibly get your hands on because you will not ever want to perform the R&R procedure more than once in a lifetime. If I were asked for tips on the R&R I'd just have to say 'Let somebody else install the new heater core to avid any more of that love hate relationship your are building with your Waser Boxer'. This is easily a $300.00 job in a shop that is in the know about such things. Don't start the installation on the morning of your Anniversary, Wifes Birthday or any other day that you may have an evening event to attend. After the installation I had to get a medical anatomy chart to name all of my body parts that ached, had cramps or minor cuts. If I ever buy a Waser Boxer I'm not even going to worry about the condition of the engine or tranny but I'm going to be damn sure its got a good front heater core.

Could it be that it froze before exploding? Leon 85 Subwagen Cruiseship
