Subject: Re: Front Heater Core Retrofit (Save money!)

I just stopped by the local mechanic. He quoted me 4.5 hours at $70 per hour and then $260 for the heater core itself.

Has anyone ever pulled off the endcap of the heater core and then resealed it with silicone or epoxy and then pressed all the tabs back down? I know everyone thinks I should just buy a new one. But, I like take off my dash. :) Haven't done it before.

I looked at the Audi Quattro 4000 heater core and it would fit minus 8 inches in length and the connections point tward the sky rather than to the right of the van.

I love the commentary!
