Need some help for my brother-in-law who's driving my old Westy. He could get it to crank slowly and start last week(it's getting colder up here). Went out to start it today to go get the 20-50 summer oil out. Wouldn't start. Cranked slowly. Hooked up jumper cables correctly, hit the key, no crank. Smoke starts coming out of the dash ashtray area. Now he's got no power anywhere, and tears running down his face. Got any ideas before he submits to the mechanic ? It's an 85 manual westy 140,000 miles no prior elec problems TIA Roger VanTill 89 Westy "The Moose Lounge" 86 Syncro "HUMMVW" 92 Escort "The Turd" (sorry,it runs) |
