I would make sure it isn't a hydraulic problem first, before I drop the
transmission. Try bleeding the slave cylinder--it only takes a few
minutes. Could be some moisture in there that is causing problems due to
colder weather.

Sounds like the pilot bearing that resides in the end of the crankshaft has
siezed. $3.50 part. This happened to me two years ago. Drove my syncro from
Farmington, NM to Leadville, CO sucessfully without use of the clutch.
Since
it all has to come apart, it makes sense to throw in a new clutch kit.
