The last time I had to replace the hard coolant line on the left side of the
WBX, I got to wondering why it failed by developing rust blisters here and
there.  Looking at the new pipe I noticed that it seemed to be powder coated
and so the rust blisters started to make sense.  I speculated that the pipe
gets nicked during replacement (we all know it doesn't exactly drop into
place) which causes a rust center to form and then spread under that tough
coating.  You can see the same thing on urethane painted cars driven in the
Rust Belt; the panel is rusted away, but the topcoat is still intact.

Since I didn't want to have to replace that line again any too soon,
especially because of my own ineptness, the idea of wrapping it came too me.
I just cut 2" strips of brown wrapping paper and in a few minutes I had
rolled my own.  If I could have remembered where I stuck it, I would have
used that tree wrap which is meant to protect saplings from low slung
varmints.
