seems most listers have them >wired so they come on w/ their high beams - , but how often do you use your >high beams? do whats really the point of this grille then? to look cool? >(like i've never bought anything to look cool :<)

Well, yeah. I live in a highly urban area. The amount of time I can use high beams is very small. But the times I need High beams are very small also. The times I need a driving light? Almost never. So why did I get a set? To look cool?

Well, yeah. Some of us choose hokie clear or smoked tail lights to express our coolness, some of us buy a relatively cheap SA grill (which I needed a new one anyway) to make our vans look better.

And when I go to the Sierras (eat your heart out) for a gold panning trip, skiing, or a astronomy weekend with the kids, I'll get to see what is going on (miles ahead).

And you can bet if I lived in Colorado or Montana, I would have the brightest lights I could buy on the front. Probably what the South Africans had in mind all along. Keep from hitting the wilderbeast on the savannas.
