My husband and I flew to Nicaragua a few years ago and rented a car to tour the country in. Along the way one of the most interesting people we met was a 60-some year-old lady who had driven her 70's Westy from Alaska and was now on her way as far south as she could get. It was just her and her little dog...she looked like a sweet grandma (but with a pierced nose) and had an adventurous spirit that was captivating. She was having trouble with her bus in Nicaragua and found there to be many kind people there, and in other Central American countries who were happy to help her with her bus problems.
