Subject: 82 air cooled running rough

I just got my van back from having the oil cooler seals replaced and she ran great for several miles. Then all the sudden she wouldn't even stay idling. I am able to get her started by pumping the gas peddle then she will finally catch and rev up fine. Sounds good. Then as the rpm's start to climb you let off the pedal for a sec. then she cuts out again and you can't bring her back by pumping the pedal or by waiting to see if she idles out of it. Either way she pretty much dies. I was able to driver her the last two miles home by starting her out when the engine started to rev and she was able to get into third gear, but was still jerking a bit on the low end of each gear. I waited several hours, looked at the points, distributor and there is not carbon or burn marks. Plugs were installed while doing oil cooler seals so less than 24 hours old. I am really unsure where to go next as this could be a fuel delivery issue or an air delivery issue. I am fairly certain that the spark is fine as she sounds to be firing fine. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. PS. it also seems to almost pre-fire(opposite of backfire) when you let your foot of the pedal from pumping the gas to get it to initially rev up.
