My local parts dealer has some stock front & slider doorhandles. NOS but not all are complete. Some are ignition only. Some come with rear hatch locks as well. Price will depend on which combination. Lots of slider handles but no keys. Easy enough to have them keyed to match your present key. The keyless sliders are $20.

There are roughly 40-50 handles and 40-50 ignition locks. I am contemplating buying the whole batch assuming there is enough demand. That way I can get everybody involved a better price. And myself an even better deal.

I am only going try this during weekend. If it doesn't work out, I will buy a set for myself, and I will be posting them for him on ebay.

Oh I almost forgot, the slider handles are all for the 85 and later doors. He has a few long early handles but those are used.

Though unrelated to Vanagons, he also has several dozen Gold/Jetta handles and ignition and trunk locksets for about $30 a set.
