Hi there,

You don't need to remove the dash to replace the antenna. You need to loosen the antenna from the outside by using a wrench and turning the base about 1/4 to 1/2 turn, and then you can wiggle the antenna out. You'll need to pull the stereo to disconnect/reconnect the antenna in the back.

Also, it helps to remove the instrument panel cover over the master cylinder when fishing the cable through to the stereo.

It's kind of tricky to replace the antenna the first time you do it just

because the base is an odd shape. My advice is to buy the new antenna before you begin removing your old one. That way you can see how the thing rotates out of the body panel.

Good luck!

Volks

Is replacing a radio antenna a major project? After trying gently but unsuccessfully to remove mine from the outside, I'm wondering if one needs to pull the dash or instrument panel for access? I don't see anything in Bentley about it. Thanks for any help.
