If you are intent on doing this conversion contact Bryan or Tammy Sturgeon at I-35 Foreign Auto Salvage in Alvarado TX 1-800-666-7167 --------------------------- They have an 85 Waser Boxer with 90% of the parts you need. It would be an 85 manual tranny. -------------------------- The parts I know to be missing are: Clutch master and slave, clutch pedal arm. I can't be sure but I think everything else is there. (Flywheel is rusty buy can be resurfaced and used) --------------------------- Make your deal with them and let me know if I can help. Their yard is about 70 miles from my home in Dallas but I go about twice a month for round VDO gauges and miscellaneous other parts. I got the whole McGilla off this van to put a Subaru Boxer engine in an air cooled van. Best of luck on this ............. I prefer the manual tranny in my 83 for controlling the RPMs pulling long hills or fighting bad head winds. If you're in a mountain area I'd say it might be worth your effort. If you could live with the automatic out of an 81 Vanagon I've got a source for it as well. (Bad news, I'd have to pull it and that would cost you $100.00 in labor, its also 70 miles from Dallas.)
