Interestingly enough I am coming up on my first emissions test in WA
with my former Diesel. When I called the Emissions folks down in Olympia
they honestly couldn't tell me which I was supposed to pass. The guy
said probably the gas for 82, but I guess it's rare enough where there
is no actual regulation he could site.
Which way do they run you Robert???
And I thought the gas emissions didn't really do much to the opacity
testing gear.

Here in Washington State, when I go in for emissions testing, the attendant
always comes up to ask-"is that a Diesel ? This is because the VIN tells him
so. His nose tells him otherwise but he asks anyway because he has
permanently screwed up his sense of smell from standing in a room full of
car exhaust daily.
Then a man comes up to the window who looks quite different from the rest,
and I look down and notice the knee-high black shiny jackboots.
He orders me out of the car and takes me to the interrogation room, you
know, table, chair, light bulb, and he's blowing this car exhaust in my face
and demanding in this screaming loud voice "Where is the Diesel!!! WHERE IS
THE DIESEL!!!
In reality it isn't an issue here. Only a few counties test for emissions,
and if the Tiico is allowed in the US, than it's not an issue here. Even so,
I did install the emissions stuff to be federally legal. Otherwise, the
gasoline vapors escape into the air. And those vapors are paid for to
burn-not just throw away.
No , nothing has to be declared or stated other than they want to know so
they don't ruin the Diesel sniffer.

Hi Robert,
Let me ask a common question that would probably interest many on the
List. What were the reaction of the authorities when they learned
that the engine is not diesel anymore, and did you have to do
anything to make it official?
