>Hello >I have an 84' westy with a 2.0l vw conversion >installed, this was a tiico kit, which worked well. >So, i have access to a 76' porsche 5spd trans, will it >fit into the vanagon??? >Has anyone done this type of conversion before? Right >now it has the stock 4spd trans. That would be a 901 trans? I believe these are no stronger than the stock Type 2 trans you already have. There is a van in NZ with 3.8 Holden V6, and someone wasted his time & money fitting a 901 to it. If you want a Porsche trans, go for a late-model (80s alloy-case) 915, or better, a 1987-89 G50. (15s are strong but do wear in the bearings & syncros. The G50s don't and are much stronger yet. -- Andrew Grebneff 165 Evans St, Dunedin 9001, New Zealand <andrew.grebneff@stonebow.otago.ac.nz> Seashell, Macintosh, VW/Toyota van nut |
