went camping this weekend and have never tried this. while driving tried
to plug in my cell phone charger in the outlet, but got no juice. of
course it works when i am plugged in at the campground but i thought you
could use the outlet when the engine was running? is there something i
need to do for it work? any help will be greatly appreciated.

Andy,

The stock 110V outlet only works when you are plugged into shore / camp
ground 110V power.

You could purchase a 12v to 110v converter to power your 110v stuff as
you travel.

Or ... you could even hardwire this into the stock 110v outlet ... with
a switch that lets you select shore / camp ground 110V or the 12v to
110v converter as the source of the 110v.
