Subject: HELP! Clutch slave-cylinder bolts: UPDATE
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Guys-

Thanks for all the help... sounds like you've all been in the same dilemma! Anyway, after deciding not to just light the van on fire and watch it burn, I crawled back underneath for another assessment. I discovered that by laying almost directly under the bracket, I could see the offending bolthead with a flashlight. Just to see what would happen, I tried jamming a 13mm open-end wrench into the opening, up against the bolthead. I then reached waaaaay up to the socket wrench I attached topside via a short extension, and sure enough, I had enough bind below to thread the nut the rest of the way off. I also discovered, during reassembly, that I could actually reach around to the open (pass.) side of the bracket and secure the bolthead enough with my fingers to thread the nut back on. Piece o' cake. LOL.

Glad I figured it out, because that allowed me spent the rest of the afternoon trying to manually bleed a virtual buttload of air out of the clutch line with no success. I finally broke down and went hunting a vacuum pump; I found a pretty good bleeder kit/pump at O'Reilly's for $30. Did the trick perfectly. So now that the clutch is ironed out, it's off to hunt down a dual carb setup (the bus is an aircooled 2.0 BTW). If you can be of any assistance, please check out my other post. Thanks again!
