Yeah, I find that advice a little odd. I bought KYB's for my '87 Westy based on recommendations from this list and have been very pleased with them. I seem to recall that I got the Gas-Adjust ones for the back . . . but memory is a funny thing. I don't find the ride hard at all and my van handles significantly better than it did before I replaced those 120,000 mile old shocks. :^)
