I say go for it, as long as the pressure cap pressure is the same. A friend of mine put a Fox tank in his Dasher, since Dasher parts are impossible to get, and it seemed to work just fine. One issue you'll have to pay attention to is the that some VW tanks don't have connections for an overflow bottle. (When the pressure cap opens, the coolant just goes onto the ground.) For the van, you need one that does.
