Subject: HOW TO: syncro gas tank INSTALL

recall the letter about 2 weeks ago regarding removing the syncro gas tank.

Install is simply the reverse of removal. Any questions?

Slide the tank up to the right side above the frame rail first. Then pivot the tank up into place. To get the return line and gauge sender to clear the frame rail, make a 6" wide 'shoe horn' to help it squeeze past. It is NOT an easy fit. How much can you bench press and for how long can you hold it? If you are a wuss, then use a floor jack and carefully jack the tank into place. Be sure there are no wires or hoses in the way and be sure that the upper vent lines are not cris-crossing a support member above the tank. Also, be sure to position the two gray wedges on the top of the tank.

Install was simple. 30 minutes by myself.

Then put the engine and tranny back in place and drive away. Cheers Matthew 86 non-gas-leaking syncro westy i4
