jack it up and make sure its safe to go under the van
check the side thats making the noise, its a hex head
6 on the wheel and 6 at the trans. my pass side inter
came loose and was making a clunk, but could'nt make it
all the way home before it dropped off in the wheel bucket
my tool box was at home so doing this on the side of the
road was out of the question, I rebuilt the pass side with
new balls. BTW i was able to reuse the wheel race it was
tweeked hard from being loose was able to run some screws
to re-tap it so my new cv hex heads would grab and not trash
up!!
Total time 5 hrs, because i had to cut the hex heads off
with a dremel 2 total, got the flex snake with some cutting wheels. Then my ball race was stuck on the shaft. what a pain :) most of the time, I make it a point to check these
more often now.
ohh They sell CV grease and you might need to service them
with grease or after viewing the balls for damage replace
them. ( your call ) good website in the archs. ->Tom C page
have a great day
