I feel really fortunate to have finally hooked up with the mechanic I now go to down here in Rhode Island for those bigger jobs. His name is Hans and he runs a place called "Hans Imports": he's experienced, specializes in vanagons, has a well equipped operation, does not charge through the roof, and is honest. He's located about 20 miles or so south of Providence, in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Let me know if you want more info about him and his shop. I've recommended him to people as far away as Boston, and they too were satisfied, so I'd say he's probably worth the trek (but maybe not a tow) from NH.
