Hi,

It's just about impossible to overheat while driving at highway speeds. Ram air really cools the radiator down. The hottest the cooling system temps will be stopped in traffic with no ram air.

You didn't mention a couple of things. What is the "touch" temperature of all sections of the radiator and does the aux fan switch when the coolant is being displaced into the overflow bottle?

Barring a combustion leak into the cooling system, either the water pump impeller is not pushing the coolant toward the radiator or the thermostat is stuck closed blocking the needed flow of cooled coolant from the radiator. As for a combustion leak, before the system boils over, the vapors in the coolant tank should be sampled with a device called "block-check". If combustion gases are present in the coolant system, a test fluid will change color.

The other night I became annoyed by yet another uninformed negative comment about WBXs and I wrote a post that essentially said that WBXs are very reliable. My point was that the WBX reputation has been forever eroded by poor maintenance, lousy diagnosis and improper repairs. I received several replies that said my comments were too harsh toward the people that use guess-work to butcher a WBX and set the stage for later side-of-the-road dilemmas. In spite of spending good money, do you think the DaBomb received correct and professional service for the overheating symptom?????

Regards, John
