Subject: trailer hitch electrical connection
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed

Okay, here's a query for the non-USA listees.

On my Tristar, it has a "factory" trailer hitch and electrical connector for the trailer. It's a really nice electrical connector. The only problem is its the European type (7 pin round with round pins).

The US trailer and hitch folks haven't any adapters for that style. I know this isn't unique to VW (I saw a web page referencing the same connector issue with Ranger Rovers.)

So my question is, is anyone (say in Canada) able to get the trailer side connector (if I can get that, I can manufacture an adapter on my own) or even better find an adapter for to one of the US "standard" connectors (what a joke calling US trailer connectors "standard".) I'd specifically prefer a flat 4, but anything I can get will be acceptable.

FWIW, the connector I have appears to be a Westfalia Werke Gmbh product (there is a sticker on it from them).
