I have seen these on www.eBay.de but do not exactly know if they are adapters for a US system.

Something like this may be exactly what you need:

It converts the seven pin german westafalia connector to a 13 pin... but I have no idea, like I said, if 13 pin is the US standard.

Do a search for "anhänger adapter" and you will find several to look at.
