Thanks to everyone, except Tim in San Jose who was sarcastic and an old meanie. Got the van home. Let it cool a bit and started it up. Loud noise in the engine, mechanic friend says bad lifter. Drove it around the block and it ran just fine [except for lifter noise]

Don't think it would run fine if it were water in the gas, a clogged cat, or bad fuel filters. But it's the day after a rain here and quick damp. Maybe an intermittent something in the engine electrics?

Sometimes I just hate vans.

Other times I despise them.
