I had a 72 Saab 96 (when I lived in Portland, OR)-- they have a way to push down the back seat and climb in through the trunk. Well, both my doors handles had developed quirks. The key would not unlock them. So I used to leave the driver's side unlocked. People would walk by and open the door, push down the lock button, and slam it closed 'for me'. Then I'd have to unload the trunk and crawl through. (I was doing theatre props at the time and always had a full trunk....)

I started leaving the window rolled down enough to get my hand in -- see? I did this on purpose. Nope. People walked by and at least once a day would open, roll up my window 'for me', push down lock knob and slam door. Bless their pointed little heads. I was worried people would take something from the glovebox or pull down the back seat to look in trunk, but never happened-- just good Sams watching out for me.

After a few months of this I decided to bite the finacial bullet and take the car to have the doors repaired. Turned out to be a matter of pulling off the panels and tightening a couple of screws. Ten bucks. <slap forehead>

A week after I had them fixed and started locking doors, someone smashed my window and stole the crappy little radio.

That still cracks me up. Happy Friday!
