Man, I haven't heard of cops issuing warnings in decades! Here in N. California I don't think they do anything but write citations all day long for the smallest (barely rolling stop) infractions.

Regarding challenging tickets, it always pays to try. Here, the courts are regularly prepared to shoot you down on the simplest of officer's testimony. "Cops are right. Perps are wrong" mentality of the majority of judges.

Regarding colors here, you have to be out of the intersection when the light changes to red.
