Well, it made sense for me to buy the older style block because all my existing oil pan, oil pump and pick up tube, right-side motor mount, bell housing, hoses, etc would bolt right on. If I go to the new style I either have to have a big lump in the back of the Westy or I have to fabricate all the stuff from the old style diesel that won't fit. There was still a lot of fabrication that I was not anticipating. Some of that was due to the fact that the five speed transmission moved the motor back about 1 inch from the original mounting position. So, it seems to make sense for doing a retro-fit OR for keeping the Westy bed down low. But, I can see that it makes sense only to sell the new style. It was just that they had both when I bought mine. That was a year ago, and just in the last couple of months have I really had time to work on it. Would it not make sense for them to sell a current product? Just wondering. BenT |
