Subject: dieing vanagan at idle
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

I have pack My 86 gl auto for cross country moved and trying to find my bently but here is mysituation...it dies on me when I am at idle but if I get the RPMs up it will run with no problems. I first noticed it when I flushed the coolant system. After a couple of hours and with lots of mositure in the engine compartment it just started dieing. When I gave it gas it kept dying then would catch and run but then finaly the afm was clanking and it died. I waited about 30 minutes and it started up... same thing happened after the engine got warmed up. The third time I got it running I drove it... it bucked for a few miutes until I got it on the freeway then it was fine...

Nothing happened until it rained a few weeks later then it did the same thing...always after it warmed up...

Idle stab valve works fine (humms)checked O2 sensor lines and taped slices up, still dies. Changed plugs wires rotor, cap. Next rain engine warms up statrs dieing again. Now every time I drive it it dies whenever I'm ideling or in traffic. Yesterday it died would fire but not start, after 30 minutes, I found my AFM hose was off put it on and disconected wiring before idle stab valve (on the hose not the valve) and it started. Once it got warm it died again while I was ideling in traffic. I looked through the archives and it seems like this is the ISCU that is acting up. What does the list think. Thanks Dan
